Cookie policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB,
no cache tricks used as identifiers. There is nothing to consent to, which is why you were not
asked.
Cookies
None. Not first-party, not third-party, not "essential", not "performance". There is no analytics package, no advertising, no social widget, no video embed, no web font from another domain and no tag manager that could set one on our behalf. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, look at Storage, and you will find this site's entries empty.
What your browser stores for this site
Nothing that survives the visit.
| Technology | Used here? | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Cookies | No | None are set and none are read. |
| localStorage / sessionStorage | No | The site's script handles the menu, the copy buttons and the documentation filter, and keeps all of that in memory. Reload the page and it is gone. |
| IndexedDB, Web SQL, Cache API | No | Not used. |
| Fingerprinting | No | Nothing measures your fonts, canvas, screen or hardware, and nothing is sent anywhere that could. |
| Ordinary browser cache | Yes, as always | Your browser may keep a copy of the HTML, CSS and JavaScript so the site loads faster. That is your browser doing its job, it holds no information about you, and clearing your cache removes it. |
Requests the pages make
Every page loads from pisg.github.io and nowhere else. The one page that fetches
anything at all is the example landing page at /demo/: it reads
channels.json from this same site, which is the file pisg writes next to its statistics
pages. It contains invented channel figures and nothing about you.
Links to other websites — GitHub, SourceForge, the GNU project, IRC client pages — are ordinary
links. Nothing from those sites loads on ours, and every page here sends
referrer: no-referrer, so when you follow a link the other site is not told which page
you came from.
Why there is no consent banner
Consent rules — the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, the UK PECR, Quebec's Law 25, PIPEDA, and the various US state privacy laws — apply to storing or reading information on your device, and to tracking. This site does neither. A banner asking permission for cookies that do not exist would be noise, so there is none. If that ever changes, the banner will appear before anything is stored, and this page will be updated first.
Other sites, and pages you generate yourself
GitHub, SourceForge and the client download pages we link to are separate websites with their own cookie practices. Once you open one, its rules apply, not ours.
Statistics pages generated by pisg are plain HTML files: they set no cookies and store nothing either. If you publish one on a host of your own, whatever that host adds — a CDN, an analytics script, a consent tool — is yours to disclose.
More
The privacy policy covers the whole picture, including what your web host can see and what you should think about before publishing your channel's statistics. The terms of use cover the rest.
